Er Hu
Erhu originated in Tang Dynasty with over one thousand years of history; however, the development of the instruments has only started in the last one hundred years or so despite the fact that Erhu has a deep connection to Chinese traditional music.
The key feature of Erhu lies in its tonality which often been referred to as “music that connects to people’s heart and emotion”. It is very good at expressing the compassionate and sentimental quality in music and it is also good at the imitating other sounds as well as expressing the grand momentum.
The world famous conductor Seiji Ozawa was once moved to tears when he was listening to the famous Erhu music ‘The Moon reflected in the Spring’.
